Frequently Asked Questions
Why does The MES Buyer’s guide exist?
It started from supporting manufacturing digital transformation. Educating clients on what MES is, and the value it can add. This led to us working with Callaghan Innovation, a New Zealand Government agency to built the first guide to help demystify the industry for manufacturers being exposed to MES for the first time.
We know there are dozens of MES solutions, with great knowledge, experience and purpose behind them powering different industries and regions. We want to give the right exposure to these solutions to give manufacturers full transparency of their options. Not just the handful of corporate solutions that appear at the top of Google.
What is The MES Buyer’s Guide?
It is an independent resource for manufacturing companies to help them with MES adoption. The key feature is Solution Provider Profiles, giving insights on industry, geographies, features and other critical information to help manufacturers find the right partner.
The Buyer’s guide also has resources to help with requirements setting and templates for structuring MES communication internally and externally, including business case and education materials.
Who are we, where did we come from?
The MES Buyer’s Guide started in Australasia, with our first guide focused on this region. Following the success of this we are expanding the guide to have a global reach.
How does it work? Why is it different?
The MES Buyer’s Guide is truly independent. We don’t charge solution providers to participate.
Whilst other resources exist, they all have referral or listing fees, or are curated by a solution provider themselves. We think manufacturers should have a truly independent option, showing the broad range of solutions available. Manufacturers pay to access the MES Buyer’s Guide.
When is The MES Buyer’s Guide being released?
We are releasing the latest versions of the guide from September 2025 onwards.
Who is the audience for The MES Buyer’s Guide?
The audience is leaders and decision makers at Medium Sized manufacturing businesses worldwide. Especially those looking at their options for MES (Planning & Scheduling, Traceability, real-time process monitoring & reporting).
What is required from MES Solution Providers to be involved?
Solution providers fill in our structured form detailing criteria about their MES solution.
The questions cover: Top industries served, example clients, features, regions supported, typical client size and ERPs Integrated with and a few more. We also ask for an introductory blurb and your company logo to ensure the guide can be designed to incorporate your brand correctly.
The whole process takes less than 20 minutes to complete.
We also ask Solution Providers to agree to the Participation Agreement.
